About this event

This 5-hour workshop is focused on the basics of Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), Reflective Listening, and Self-care. It is designed for the Allies of a Loved One (LO) who struggles with substance use. The workshop helps to create a foundation of support for LOs, based in evidence and compassion while encouraging Allies to consider the importance of their own self-care. This is a dynamic event where the trainer takes you through common scenarios and how to apply CRAFT. You’ll also learn how to use the Allies in Recovery broader approach and resources for guiding your LO to recovery.

Trainer:

Laurie MacDougall is a former high school math teacher and is a Certified Family Peer Specialist. She is an Allies Podcast Host & Author and is the Rhode Island Representative for Allies in Recovery. She brings her years of teaching experience to designing and implementing this workshop. She has been applying the Allies curriculum in her own life for almost a decade, as well as 6 years in an educational group setting.
